Malik 3 was an Arab commander who led several raids on Byzantine territory. In AH 46 (March 666/March 667), according to some accounts, Malik b. Hubayrah al-Sakuni (Malik 3) led the winter expedition into Byzantine territory; other leaders named in the sources as leader of this campaign were Malik b. Ubaydallah (Malik 2) and `Abd al-Rahman b. In AH 49 (Feb. 669/Jan. 670) he led the winter campaign into Byzantine territory: Tabari XVIII, p. 94. He is also mentioned in Tabari in AH 51 (Jan. 671/Jan. 672) in connection with the killing, on Mu`awiya's orders, of his cousin Hujr b. `Adi (on whom see Encyclopaedia of Islam, s.v. Hudjr b. `Adi al-Kindi; a supporter of `Ali, whose death "opens the martyrology of the Shi`a"); he opposed the caliph but was later reconciled to him: Tabari XVIII, pp. 148, 152-153. In AH 47 (March 667/Feb. 668) = 978 Sel. (666/667) Malik ibn Hubaira (
