Lykastos 12 was a hypatos; he was the addressee of a letter from Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15); he was related to Theodoros 15 and was his contemporary and an old friend (ἀγχιστεύων, ὁμοῦ τε φίλος ἀρχαῖος καὶ συνηλικιώτης: p. 747, lines 4-5); on the death of his wife (probably between 815 and 826) he received this letter, one of consolation, from Theodoros 15; by the time of her death they had several adult children: Theod. Stud., Ep. 505, pp. 747-749 (addressed Λυκάστῳ ὑπάτῳ).
