Leo 79 was dioiketes and kommerkiarios of Adrianoupolis; owner of a seal dated perhaps in 838/839, see below: DOSeals I 44.6 = Zacos and Veglery 2103b. Obv.: Θεοτόκε βοήθει [τῷ] σῷ δούλῳ. Rev.: Λέοντι διοικ(ητῇ) (καὶ) κομερκ(ιαρίῳ) Ἀ[δ]ρια(νου)πό(λεως). Ἰνδ(ικτίων) β'. A similar seal, from a different boulloterion, is Zacos and Veglery 2103a. On palaeographic grounds the seal belongs to the first half of the ninth century; for stylistic reasons it is to be dated to the latest of the second indictions in that period, 838/839; see Nesbitt and Oikonomides, DOSeals I, p. 126, note.
