Landulf 1 was bishop (of Capua); he deposed one of his deacons, Pepo 1, illegally; Pepo 1 appealed to pope Nicholas I (Nikolaos 28) and was reinstated: Lib. Pont. 107. 43. Landulf 1 (called Landoulphos in the text) was the bishop of Capua; he built a new city called New Capua when Capua was attacked by the Africans (in 856): Const. Porph., DAI 27, 64ff. Landulf 1 the bishop of Capua is also recorded in Erchempert, Hist. Lang. Benevent. 21 and 31.
