Ioseph 11 was an archidiakonos and synkellos who represented the patriarch of Alexandria, Michael 56, at the Council summoned at Constantinople by Ignatios 1 and Basilios 7 in 869; several representatives of the eastern patriarchates were allowed to attend after Basilios 7 sent gifts and letters to the ruler of Syria (presumably the caliph): Nicetas, Vita Ignatii 544C-D (Ἰωσὴφ μὲν ἀρχιδιάκονος καὶ σύγκελλος, τοποτηρητὴς Μιχαὴλ ἦλθε τοῦ πάπα τῆς κατ' Αἴγυπτον Ἀλεξανδρείας).
