Ioannes 591 was a monk and kellarites in the monastery of Agauros (near Prousa) (τὴν τοῦ κελλαρίτου διακονίαν πεπιστευμένος); he considered the city of Amorion to be impregnable and Eustratios 19 foretold that it would fall to the Arabs within two days; this occurred in 838: Vita Eustratii 21, p. 382.
