Ioannes 457 was a logothetes, the addressee of a letter from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite), written in 821; he is said to have endured many trials and tribulations during the persecution under Leo V (Leo 15); he is asked by Theodoros 15 to use his influence with the emperor (Michael II, Michael 10) to secure a restoration of the veneration of icons; he is styled τῆς σῆς εὐσεβείας and is addressed as κύριε μου: Theod. Stud., Ep. 424 (addressed Ἰωάννῃ λογοθέτῃ).
