Ioannes 449 was a philosopher and the addressee of two letters from the patriarch Photius (Photios 1) answering questions raised by him; the letters are not dateable: Photius, Epp. 63-64 (I 107ff. Laourdas-Westerink) (addressed respectively Ἰωάννῃ φιλοσοφοῦντι and τῷ αὐτῷ).
