Ioannes 404 was hypatos and kommerkiarios of Chaldia; owner of a seal dateable to the late eighth or early ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 2016. The name and titles read: Ἰωάννῃ ὑπάτῳ καὶ κομερκιαρίῳ Χαλδίας. This is an early seal of this province; see Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 127. On Chaldia, cf. Ioannes 185.
