Ioannes 272 was hypatos and basilikos spatharios; owner of two seals dateable to the eighth century: Zacos and Veglery 3123 and 3124. The texts read: Ἰωάννῃ ὑπάτῳ καὶ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ. These seals resemble Konstantopoulos, JIAN 9, 524a; see Ioannes 280.
