Ioannes 233 was one of the twelve monks (ἀδελφοί) whom Stephanos 2 (Stephen the Younger) received under him when he founded the monastery on Mt Auxentius (εἶθ' οὑτῶς Ἰωάννην): Vita Steph. Iun. 110. 19-24 (1097D-1100A). The date was around the middle of the eighth century.
