Ioannes 187 was metropolitan bishop of Rhodes (Rhodos); owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century: Laurent, Corpus V 1, no. 698 = Likhachev, IZIGI, appendix, p. 6, no. 21. Obv.: Virgin holding medallion of Child, between two monograms of Θεοτόκε βοήθει. Rev.: +Ιωα - ννη μιτρ - οπολιτη - Ροδου. Possibly identical with Ioannes, bishop of Rhodes between Agapetos and Ioseph (PBE II); Laurent, op. cit., p. 529, note (referring to the Synodikon, EO 33, 1934, p. 215, n. 2).
