A Stoudite monk, Hyperechios 1 was the addressee of two letters from Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15): Theod. Stud., Ep. 247 (M/L 816), Ep. 346 (winter 817/818 or spring 818) (both addressed Ὑπερεχίῳ τέκνῳ). He is mentioned in a further letter of Theodoros 15, written in 816: Theod. Stud., Ep. 181. During the persecution of iconophiles under Leo V (Leo 15) he suffered beatings and exile: Theod. Stud., Epp. 181, 247, 346. During this time he was apparently guilty of a lapse, which was however forgiven him: Theod. Stud., Ep. 346. He was one of the group of Stoudite monks who were associated with Euthymios 15 and Ephraem 2: Theod. Stud., Ep. 181. He is addressed as Ὑπερέχιε τέκνον μου: Theod. Stud., Ep. 247.
