Known as Gregorios Kentrokoukouros, Gregorios 142 was a cleric at Constantinople in c. 816; he opposed iconoclasm and for this was imprisoned, flogged and banished to an island; at this time he was the addressee of a letter from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) and is mentioned in another: Theod. Stud., Ep. 112, pp. 230-231 (mentioned, p. 231, line 33), Ep. 163, p. 284 (addressed Γρηγορίῳ κληρικῷ).
