Georgios 172 was an apo eparchon; owner of a seal dateable to the seventh century: Speck, Bleisiegel 42. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει. Rev.: +Γεω - ργιω απ - ο επαρ - χων. The same person probably owned another seal, of which two specimens survive, which differs only slightly from the above: Zacos and Veglery 3023, Speck, Bleisiegel 43. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει. Rev.: +Γεω - ργιω α - πο επα - ρχων. Cf. Georgios 238.
