The emperor Theophilos was supposedly informed by a prophetess (see Anonyma 6) that Georgios 58 would be executed at the sphendone in the Hippodrome and his property confiscated to the imperial treasury; he held a military command (or possibly an honorific military title) at his death (Γεώργιον δὲ τὸν τὰς στρατιωτικὰς δέλτους ἐπειλημμένον or similar): Theoph. Cont. III 27 (p. 122), Ps.-Symeon 636. A group of these prophecies was apparently composed after the event, all referring to the reigns of Michael III and Basil I.
