Georgios 24 was bishop of Ionopolis (Iounopolis) (in Paphlagonia); in 681 he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) and was present at the last eight sessions (sessions eleven to eighteen, from March 20 to September 16): Riedinger, pp. 406-827 (= Mansi XI 460-677). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council, he is styled Γεώργιος ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος Ἰουνουπόλεως (so Riedinger, p. 792, line 16 (= Mansi XI 652); Riedinger, p. 827, line 10 (= Mansi XI 677) reads: τῆς Ἰουνουπολιτῶν πόλεως): Riedinger, p. 792, line 16, p. 827, line 10 (= Mansi XI 652, 677). In the lists of those present at each session he is styled Γεωργίου ἐπισκόπου Ἰουνοπόλεως: Riedinger, p. 406, line 12, p. 520, line 1, etc. (= Mansi XI 460, 521, etc.). He was still bishop in 692, when he attended the Quinisext Council in Constantinople and signed the canons: Ohme, Bischofsliste, p. 161, no. 142 (= Mansi XI 1000) (Γεώργιος ἐλέῳ Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος Ἰουνουπολιτῶν τῆς Παφλαγόνων ἐπαρχίας).
