Georgios 2 was bishop of Amastris; when bishop John of Gotthia (Ioannes 6) died at Amastris, he escorted the body in its coffin to the ship which was to take it home, accompanied by the whole city and with incense and candles: Vita Ioannis Gotthiae, p.191.
