Garipald 2 was the son of the Lombard king Grimoald (Grimoald 3) and the daughter (Anonyma 48) of king Aripert I (Charibert 1); he was still a child when Grimoald 3 died (in 671) and he succeeded to the throne, but was almost immediately overthrown at Ticinum by Perctarit 1: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. V 33. His fate is not recorded by Paul.
