Euthymios 19 was a monk who had suffered persecution (from the iconoclasts) (εἶτα καὶ Εὐθύμιος, ἕτερος αἰδέσιμος μονάζων καὶ δεδιωγμένος); in c. 823 he was one of those who persuaded Erastos 2, though not a priest, to administer the rite of baptism to a dying baby: Theod. Stud., Ep. 462. The letter was addressed to the bishop of Dyrrhachion, Antonios 34, and Euthymios probably therefore lived at Dyrrhachion; cf. also Thomas 59 and Iakobos 13.
