Domnika 1 was the wife of Bardanios Tourkos (Bardanes 3); she bore him sons (Anonymi 6) and a daughter (Anonyma 16); after his retreat into a monastery, Domnika 1 remained in their own home but he had her tonsured (as a nun) and gave her the name Athanasia: Theoph. Cont. I 3 (p. 10). Bardanes 3 rebelled and was defeated in 803. See also Barka 1, Thekla 2 and Bryennios 3.
