Dionysios 4 was the son (τῷ ἐμῷ υἱῷ) of Leo 259; he was engaged to be married when the girl to whom he was betrothed fell gravely ill; she was cured after the intervention of Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite), who sent holy oil from Pteleai, where he was then staying (the date was therefore c. 821; see Theodoros 15): Vita B Theod. Stud., 305B, Vita C Theod. Stud. 61, p. 293, Vita A Theod. Stud., 209A. Leo 259's home was at Metata, near Lakkos.
