Dionysios 3, a native of Edessa, and known as Dionysios of Tell Mahre, was chosen (Jacobite) patriarch of Antioch in 818: Chron. 1234, §199 (II, p. 13). He was the author of an ecclesiastical history: Chron. 1234, §§199, 205, 206, 207, 209, 220 (II, pp. 13, 17, 18, 19, 21, 33). He was not the author of the Chronicle attributed to him; see ODB I, pp. 628-629 with references. He died in 845; see ODB I, loc. cit.
