Damianos 9 was a protospatharios and komes of the basilikon hippostasion (the basilikon stablon) under the reign of the emperor Michael II (Michael 10); he was sent with an army to join Photeinos 9 and recover the island of Crete from the Arabs under Abu Hafs 1; they joined battle with the Arabs but Damianos 9 received a fatal wound at the very beginning of the battle and the Romans were defeated: Theoph.
