Chrysocheres 2 was the nephew and son-in-law of the Paulician leader Karbeas 1; after the death of Karbeas, Chrysocheres 2 succeeded him as leader of the Paulicians at Tephrike; it was during his time that the mission of Peter of Sicily (Petros 1) to Tephrike took place; the mission is dated to the second year of the emperors Basil I (Basilios 7), Constantine and Leo (i.e. 869): Peter of Sicily, 186-187.
