Unnamed king of the Franks, Childeric 1 was deposed by Pepin 1, received the tonsure and entered a monastery where he lived out his life in peace: Theoph. AM 6216. He is identifiable as the last ruler of the Merovingian dynasty, Childeric III, who was deposed in 751. Cf. Rochow, Theophanes, pp. 109-110.
