Chariton 1 was a Stoudite monk; he died within a few years of becoming a monk and was praised in a sermon by his hegoumenos Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite): Theod. Stud., Catech. Magna II 88 (pp. 625ff. Papadopoulos-Kerameus).
