Barnabas 3 was a monk; addressee of a letter from the patriarch Photius (Photios 1); he is advised not to be disturbed by his poverty, of which he had complained: Photius, Ep. 42 (I 90 Laourdas-Westerink) (addressed Βαρνάβᾳ μονάζοντι). The date is uncertain, between 858 and 867 or 877 and 886.
