Bardas 13 was magistros; son of Sergios 44 and Eirene 4, he was the brother of Stephanos 76; Bardas 13 married the daughter of Konstantinos Kontomytes (Konstantinos 133), Anonyma 22, and subsequently adopted the name Kontomytes himself; Bardas 13 and his brother Stephanos 76 were cousins (through their paternal aunt Eirene 6) of the patriarch Photios 1: Theoph.
