Bardas 6 was the son of Kordyles 1; when he reached manhood (ἠνδρωμένον), Bardas 6 was left by his father Kordyles 1 to rule in his place over the Macedonians who lived beyond the Danube (ἀντ'αὐτοῦ ἄρχειν τῶν Μακεδόνων τῶν ὄντων πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ τοῦ Δανουβίου) while Kordyles 1 sought the help of the emperor Theophilos (Theophilos 5) for the return of his people to the empire: Leo Gramm. 231, Georg. Mon. Cont. 818. These Macedonians were people from Adrianople carried off captive by Krum 1 in 813. See also Kordyles 1.
