Baanes 12 was a patrikios; owner of a seal dateable between the mid seventh century and the mid eighth: Zacos and Veglery 2569. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: square monogram of Βαανιω πατρικιω, with the letters Ε, Θ, Υ over the top (for the corrected reading, see Zacos and Veglery 3231, p. 1795). The name and title read: Βαανίῳ ἐκ Θεοῦ πατρικίῳ.
