On this person, see now Baanes 16. Baanes 10 was a patrikios, magistros and komes ...; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century, possibly the first half: Zacos and Veglery 3212 (eighth century). Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - δου - λω - ς. in the corners. Rev.: +Βαα - νη πατρ. - ..ω μαγιστ - .ω και κομη. - .... . The name and titles read: Βαάνῃ πατρικίῳ, μαγίστρῳ καὶ κόμητι ... . Seibt preferred a date in the first half of the century; see Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 31.
