Athanasios 24 was an ascetic monk; he was tortured to death at Constantinople with Petros 69 because of his support for icon veneration, on the same day as Stephen the Younger (Stephanos 2) (29 November); their deaths are mentioned briefly at the end of the Vita of Stephen the Younger in the Armenian Synaxarion: Synax. Arm. (PO 16), p. 139.
