Aristarchos 1 was a monk in the monastery of Sakkoudion in Bithynia; according to Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) he had deserted Theodoros 15 and had persuaded others to desert likewise, among them possibly Papylos 1 and Theoteknos 1; he used to return to the monastery as if penitent, only to induce others also to desert: Theod. Stud., Catech. Magna II 122 (pp. 909, 912ff. Papadopoulos-Kerameus). The date was between c. 800 and c. 815.
