Arichis 4 was the Lombard dux of Beneventum in 763; he was married to Adelperga 1 and they had a family: Paul. Diac., Versus de annis a principio (Paul. Diac., Hist.Lang., ed. Waitz, intro., p. 3, lines 28-30: "Principatum Beneventi ductore fortissimo Arechis regnante, freto Superni auxilio, Adelperga cum tranquilla stirpe nata regia"). (Paulos 52 ended these verses, which were written in 763, with a prayer for their future prosperity). He died in 787 and Paulos 52 composed an epitaph for him: Waitz, op. cit., p. 14. Arichis 4 was apparently dux of Beneventum from at least 763 until his death. He was the father of Grimoald 6 and of another son called Romoald (not in PBE); on his death in 787 Arichis 4 was succeeded as dux of Beneventum by Grimoald 6: Annales Regni Francorum s.a. 787, s.a. 788.
