Arazat 1 was hypatos; owner of a seal dateable to the first half of the eighth century: Zacos and Veglery 590A. Obv.: eagle, with wings raised, and cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει. Rev.: Αραζ - ατ υπ - ατω. The name and title read: Ἄραζατ ὑπάτῳ. The name may be of Armenian origin, but cf. Winkelmann, Quellenstudien, p. 204.
