Anonymus 558 was the brother-in-law (γαμβρός) of Ioannikios 2 (Saint Ioannikios) and therefore husband of Anonyma 54; he was a convinced iconoclast who resisted all the attempts of Ioannikios 2 to change his mind; he eventually died blind but still firmly adhering to his views: Sabas, Vita Ioannicii 27 (εἰκονομάχον καὶ βλάσφημον), Petrus, Vita Ioannicii 35.
