Anonymus 201 was a king of the Franks to whom the emperor Theophilos 5 sent Theodosios 41 Baboutzikos as ambassador to request military aid against the Arabs; the request was granted but the deaths first of Theodosios 41 and then of Theophilos 5 prevented any further action: Theoph. Cont. III 37 (p. 135), cf. Genesius III 16, 18, Scyl., p. 79. The king was probably on this occasion Lothar I (Lotharios 1), although on an earlier embassy, with which this notice may have become confused, Theodosios 41 was sent to Louis the Pious (Lodoïchos 2); cf. Theodosios 41. Cf. Treadgold, Revival, p. 325 with n. 450.
