Anonyma 23 was the sister of St Evarestos (Evarestos 1) and was a nun; at the time of his death she suffered from paralysis of the limbs and could not walk; forty days after his death she had herself carried to his tomb, where she anointed herself with oil from the candle burning there and was instantly cured: Vita S. Evaristi 44 (p. 323). Evarestos 1 died on Christmas Day in 897; this miracle can therefore be dated to 3 February 898. Evarestos 1 had a niece, Ioulitta 1, whose mother was the sister of Evarestos 1; it is not clear whether Ioulitta 1's mother should be identified with Anonyma 23, who would then have become a nun later in life. Cf. also Anonymus 218 (father of Anonyma 23).
