Anonyma 21 was the mother of Metrophanes 1, her only child; she accused the patriarch Methodios 1 of having raped her and fathered her son; the charge was proved unfounded and she admitted, under questioning by Manuel 6, that her allegations were all false and had been made in return for money and gifts: Theoph. Cont. IV 10 (pp. 158-160), Zon. XVI 1. 21-35, Genesius IV 5, Ps.-Symeon 652. The date was between 843 and 847.
