Ambros 1 was basilikos silentiarios, archon of the blattion and genikos kommerkiarios; owner of a seal dateable to the years between 776 and 780 (see below): Zacos and Veglery 272 = Oikonomides, Dated Seals, pp. 50-51, no. 40 (= Likhachev, "Datirovannye" 204 (βασιλικῷ ἄρχοντι τοῦ βλαττίου) with Millet, "Sceaux", 605, 2 and Laurent, "Bulletin" I, 601, 2). The inscription on the reverse reads: [Ἄ]μβρῳ β(ασιλικῷ) σιλ[ε]ν-[τι]αρ(ίῳ) (καὶ) ἄρχοντ[ι]- [τοῦ] βλα(ττίου) (καὶ) γενι-[κῷ] κ[ομμερκιαρίῳ]. The seal has on the obverse images of the emperors Leo IV (Leo 4) and Constantine VI (Konstantinos 8), on the reverse busts of the late emperors Leo III (Leo 3) and Constantine V (Konstantinos 7).
