Alexandros 8 was the addressee of two letters from Photios 1, both accusing him of acting in a tyrannical manner: Photios, Epp. 47, 158 (I 93, II 13 Laourdas-Westerink) (both addressed Ἀλεξάνδρῳ κόμητι). The letters were written between 859 and 867, and possibly allude to some action of Alexandros 1 against Photios 1 himself; cf. Hergenroether, Photius, Patriarch von Konstantinopel (Regensburg, 1867-1869) II 731ff.
