Agatho 10 was a monk; joint addressee with Ephraim 2 and their fellow monks of a letter from Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15) written between 815 and 820; they supported the veneration of icons and are described as γενναῖοι στρατιῶται Χριστοῦ (p. 184, lines 30-31); the letter laments the death of their abbot Laurentios 3: Theod. Stud. Ep. 68, pp. 183-184. The letter, addressed Ἐφραὶμ καὶ Ἀγάθωνι καὶ τοῖς λοιποῖς τέκνοις, was written during the persecution of iconophiles under Leo V (Leo 15).
