Ado 3 was brother of Radoald 2; after the exile of Ansfrit 1, who had seized the ducatus of Forum Iulii from Radoald (in the reign of Cunincpert 1, 688-700), Ado governed the ducatus as deputy for one year and seven months: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 3 ("Foroiulano autem ducatui post haec Ado, frater Rodoaldi, lociservatoris nomine per annum et menses septem gubernavit"). He died, still lociservator, and was succeeded as dux of Forum Iulii by Ferdulf 1: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 24 ("mortuo quoque apud Foroiuli Adone, quem dixeramus lociservatorem fuisse, Ferdulfus ducatum suscepit").
